Creative Reflections: Issue #05

Reflecting on Week 03 of 2025

Edge of the Woods Near L’Hermitage, Pontoise (1879) by Camille Pissarro

I ran into a bit of a conundrum this week.

When it comes to the areas that I want to grow in as a creative I have been placing a big emphasis on my design skills — particularly my graphic design skills. Not only is it fun but a valuable skill to have in this day and age. Since I plan to self-publish knowing how to create my covers would be a plus.

Now, this made me realize I would need to divide my interests into separate accounts in the interest of allowing people to follow what they liked most. Especially if someone followed me for my writing, I don’t want to bombard them with designs. The goal is to keep my promise.

So all of Week 3 of 2025 was spent creating different spheres of my work while still connecting them to me (Vera Encante).

Things might change in the future but for now, I think I’ve come to a great solution.

Goals for next week

  • For writing, the goal for Week 4 is to finish the first draft of my short story and share some snippets before I work on the second draft.
  • For design, it’s to continue to create a graphic a day for the 100 Days of Graphic Design challenge.
  • For art, it’s to still try to sketch a day. I want to try my hand at gesture drawing.
