Design With Vera: Issue #01

Designs for Week 51 of 2024 while taking on the 100 Days of Graphic Design Challenge

Day 00

I have been listening to Clara La San’s song In This Darkness on repeat, and I wanted to learn how to use Affinity Photo 2. So I decided to make a simple graphic with some lyrics from the song.

Day 01

For Day 01 design, I wanted to just use typography.

Nothing more than that.

Day 02

For Day 02’s design, I was once again inspired by Clara La San’s music.

There is something haunting and lonely about her lyrics I really resonate with. It helps that her voice is incredible, too.

Day 03

For Day 03, I was inspired by Deftones.

It’s crazy that I haven’t heard of Deftones until recently, and they have become one of my favorite bands.

Day 04

Day 04 started with me wanting to use Artemisia Gentileschi’s artwork as inspiration.

I adore her work, and wanted to try something a little different. Brutalism played a part in the design because there is something about that aesthetic that I like a lot. After that, I tried to add different elements.

It was a lot of fun.

Day 05

I love werewolves.

So for Day 05 I wanted to create a design inspired by werewolves. Something a little supernatural. I think I could have done a better job, but I did the best that I could.

Day 06

For Day 06, I wanted to do something a little chill.

I think I managed to capture that.

Day 07

For Day 07, I wanted to try to work with thresholds.

Since I use Affinity Photo 2 for my designs, I had to learn about how Affinity Photo 2 works. And learning how to cut an object out of a photo was the first step. After that, I wanted to add some effects and filters to transform the image.

It was a lot of fun.
